New phpLinkBid Development Blog

Posted 2009-03-24 in Development

Today we launch the new phpLinkBid Development Blog. This new section of our blog provides the latest scoop on phpLinkBid development for avid users and phpLinkBid developers. phpLinkBid has become a standard platform for thousands of directories, and as we grow it brings new challenges to the development process. We hope to keep you in the loop as much as possible, and look forward to the feedback and ideas from our users.

Our newest version is tackling many new challenges that directories face. phpLinkBid 1.6 was initially slated for a 2008 release, but as that date grew closer three things became clear:

  1. The new challenges that Webmasters face demand more than just a nice upgrade to the same script. The new version needs to address these challenges aggressively and provide a more robust and flexible script on every level.
  2. To achieve this, our codebase requires significant improvements that were not originally slated for immediate development.
  3. Our development documentation stinks.

We have been hard at work with this short yet intimidating list, and our current goal is releasing a stable beta for phpLinkBid 1.6.

We will have the phpLinkBid v1.6 Beta build one ready for first review as soon as possible. This will be made available to our Beta Team as soon as ready. This version has a large number of changes to the codebase that require significant restructuring of files & scripts to work with the new modules system, URL parsing mechanisms, and interface-view controller system.

Keep an eye out in the coming days for regular progress updates. We will be posting each week with development progress and questions or tidbits for our readers. Thanks!
